Because a love of books and reading is essential to leading an informed and well-rounded life, Sheboygan County Reads! inspires young people to read, and to learn and appreciate the crafts of writing and illustration.
Sheboygan County Reads!, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is organized exclusively for charitable and education purposes. The goal of SCR! is to transform Sheboygan County into the community that reads by organizing events and activities related to books for children and teens. SCR! works collaboratively with other organizations advocating reading and literacy.
The Sheboygan Children’s Book Festival and Teen Book Festival are programs of Sheboygan County Reads!.
The Sheboygan Children's Book Festival, established in 2010, is presented in partnership with community volunteers and local organizations that believe in the transforming power of reading and the literary and visual arts. The SCBF has brought thousands of children and teens together with world-class authors and illustrators at schools and at public festival events.
Building on the success of the SCBF, we launched the first Sheboygan Teen Book Festival in 2016. The SCBF and the STBF take place annually in October.
